Take a look at our latest project: a refinished and distressed vintage dresser! This particular dresser had been in our home growing up, but it needed a fresh look to coordinate with the style in our home.
The dresser got passed down to us from my grandpa a number of years ago. Not only was the dresser “well used” and needed a few drawers repaired, but a few of the drawers had some scribbled swear words on the inside! I made sure not to paint over those, though :)
I was really looking for something to help bring some lighter tones into the room. We felt that this dresser would really stand out with a fresh coat of white chalk paint. After sanding down, applying paint, and distressing, we also decided to add some new knobs to help give it that updated look.
After seeing the finished look, we are ecstatic about how it turned out! Not only were we able to get to keep a memorable piece of furniture, but we were also able to complete the look of one of our guest bedrooms. Thankfully, there is another coordinating desk with this dresser. We are hoping to get the desk refinished soon with the same distressed look to complete the look of the room.
I swear, I only took my painter's mask off for a quick drink...
